T.D. Jakes Ministries/The Potter's House

What will you do with the rest of your life? The decision you make, based on this question alone, will determine the quality of life you will experience. Take the time to search deep within yourself for the answers to this question. Make a decision. And when you’re ready, begin the transformation process. How you live your life from this day forward is entirely up to you.

You can’t spend your life in the graveyard of guilt dealing with the corpses of the past. Know when things are dead, know when to release them and bury them. If you continue to work with the dry bones of dead issues, you too will begin to decay. No amount of work will resuscitate a corpse. Sign the death certificate and bury the past.

The gift, talent or ability God gave you is your key to success. God did not give it to you to be put on display behind a glass showcase. He did not give it to you to waste. Nor did He give it to you for you to hide and deny it out of a false sense of religious humility. God gave you a gift to be poured out, used and invested.

We are here on this earth to spread the gospel and to reach every living person with a message of hope and deliverance. We are called to enforce what Jesus did on Calvary when He completed His purpose and said, “It is finished.” He was telling us that He had done all He could do and we must carry on that work.

Life will always present broken places, places of struggle and conflict. If you have a divine purpose and life has put you on hold, hang on! Stay on the line until life gets back to you. If you believe as I do, then it’s worth the wait to receive your answer from the Lord.

My prayer is that you will soon experience the fullness of God’s promises in your life. We often limit Him and what He is able to do because our heart dwells in past disappointments. Don’t let what you went through define who you are and what God will ultimately do.

I can't believe it has been so long

No matter what, life happens. My husband went to the doctor for an ingrown toenail, and it turned into an infection. The infection got worse after the initial antibiotics and he ended up in the hospital After two weeks of doctors debating if they would be able to save his toe, they decided to do vascular bypass surgery from his groin to his toe. He is home and doing pretty well. He is generally so active it is hard to keep the leg from swelling, but we are truly thankful for the outcome.

It was much harder on me most of the time than it was on him because they kept him extremely sedated. Most of the time he didn't even know I was there. We have been together over 33 years and trying to imagine what we would do if he was not able to do the things he loves, including keeping the house and large yard maintained, made me really stop and think. We have lived in our home for almost 22 years. If he were no longer able to get around so many things would have to change. The infection was so bad, there were times when the thought of losing him was overwhelming.

In all our years together we have been through MANY trials and tribulations and made it through because of our faith. When life gets hard I pray, and give it to God. I thank Jesus for giving me that opportunity because He gave His life for me. His bruised and broken body heals us & His blood covers a multitude of sins. I can't imagine not having this faith and hope He died to give us. When it gets too hard to pray, I turn on my praise and worship music, Jesus carries me, and God holds my hand.

Wonderful Peace, lyrics by Warren D. Cornell

Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm;
In celestial strains it unceasingly falls
O’er my soul like an infinite calm.
Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!
What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace,
Buried deep in the heart of my soul,
So secure that no power can mine it away,
While the years of eternity roll!
Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray.
In fathomless billows of love!
I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace,
Resting sweetly in Jesus’ control;
For I’m kept from all danger by night and by day,
And His glory is flooding my soul!
Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!
And I think when I rise to that city of peace,
Where the Anchor of peace I shall see,
That one strain of the song which the ransomed will sing
In that heavenly kingdom will be:
Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!
Ah, soul! are you here without comfort and rest,
Marching down the rough pathway of time?
Make Jesus your Friend ere the shadows grow dark;
O accept of this peace so sublime!

Chosen By God 3

I grew up on Lake Huron in Michigan. The spillway ran behind our house. An approximately 10' wide x 12' deep channel off the lake that carried excess water inland to keep our homes from flooding . My older brothers put a big plank across it so they could get to their friends houses on the other side. I was four, and decided I would follow my brothers. By the time I got to what we called the “County Ditch”, my brothers were out of sight. The plank was about 2-3' below ground level and about 2 feet above the water, the ground was muddy, and I had on sandals. I slid down the slime to just above the plank. I screamed at the top of my lungs, but no one heard me. I struggled to climb back up for what seemed an eternity, grabbing at tree roots, and making little progress until I got my foot on a big tree root that allowed me to put my arms on the ground at the top and pull myself up. I can imagine what my mother saw when my screams brought her running out of the house. Seeing me covered with muck & slime she ran for the hose, and adding shame to my distress, hosed me off in front of all the neighbors that came running to see what was going on. (I was known for being very loud!) The third miracle in my life.

T.D. Jakes

If you are in a fight, keep on reaping while you fight; fight with one hand and reap with the other. You have a certain season to reap, and the reason you have warfare is that the devil is trying to distract you and make you miss your season. Do not back off, give up or give in. Determine to stand firm, slap him with one hand while you pluck the fruit of your harvest with the other. It is your time and season!

Bishop T. D. Jakes

We have many people who modeled how to get started, but few live long enough to show us how to finish. The Bible says that it is not good for man to be alone. We need someone to show us how to get through the different ages and stages of life; someone who’s been there to coach us through the process and say, “Keep going, don’t give up now.”

Dear heavenly Father, You know how much I long to know who I truly am. Please allow me a deep awareness of what it means for me to be Your child. Give me the confidence of Your promises and the ability to love myself as You love me. Amen.

Journey To A Heart Like His - Nancy Leigh DeMoss

(Excerpt) Many of us long to experience a greater sense of God's presence and power in our lives. Our hearts need to be revived. We will never meet God in revival until we first meet Him in brokenness.

"To be broken is the beginning of revival. It is painful, it is humiliating, but it is the only way." Roy Hession.

Brokenness is not a feeling or an emotion. Rather, it requires a choice, an act of the will.

Brokenness is the shattering of my will. It is saying, "Yes Lord!" No resistance, no chafing, no stubbornness.

Brokenness is the striping of self-reliance and independence from God.

Believers with broken, contrite hearts are receptive and responsive to the Word.

Broken people are self-denying and self-sacrificing.

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God. 2 Corinthians 3:5 NKJV

Proverbs 3 NIV

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.

By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.
My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"—when you now have it with you. Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you. Do not accuse a man for no reason— when he has done you no harm. Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence.

The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.

The wise inherit honor, but fools he holds up to shame.

Chosen By God 2

My parents took us to the lake when I was 3 for a family picnic. My mother, her sister and brother, and we three kids, were sitting in the shallow water, and they were taking pictures. When they had finished they left us sitting in the shallow water playing as they went back up the hill to the picnic table. When my mother got back up to the picnic table she turned around. She screamed when she saw only my hair floating on the water. My oldest brother, who was 6, grabbed me, and drug me out of the water, long before they got there. This was the first time he saved my life.
The second miracle in my life.

The Window Thru Which We Look

A young couple moved into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast the young woman saw her neighbor hanging the wash outside. "That laundry is not very clean," she said. "She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."

Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry she would make the same comments.

A month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband; "Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her."

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life... What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

We will always have seasons of struggles and testing. There are times when everything we attempt to do will seem to go wrong. The Lord has a purpose in not allowing us to be fruitful all the time. These periods destroy our pride in our own ability and reinforce our dependency on the sufficiency of our God. (Watch live service online all day Sunday and Bible Study Wednesday night)

Chosen By God 1

All who are called by God have a story to tell. Mine begins 15 months before I was born. My mother had her third boy, and the doctor told her if she had another baby it could kill her. He cut, buried, and stitched her tubes, instead of just tying them. (My father really wanted a girl) Can you imagine the surprise when she found out the tube grew back and she was pregnant?  She spent most of the pregnancy in bed or in the hospital, and remained in the hospital for weeks afterward. She came home to an 18 month old, a two 1/2 year old, and a constantly crying newborn. Did I mention I had "intestinal colic" and was constantly in pain? (My oldest brother lived only a few days.)

The first miracle in my life. I was born against all odds.

Bishop T.D. Jakes

Why does God take such a strong stance against worry? Because worry quietly eats away at your spiritual health until bitterness comes in & destroys your faith & optimism. Since we live by faith, worry chokes the very life out of us; leaving us asphyxiating on our problems & our pain. To God worry seems like a lack of confidence in Him. Trusting Him will always relieve such symptoms & bring peace.

T.D. Jakes Ministries/The Potter's House ‎[Repost]

Christ has given every one of us grace according to the measure of the gift of God. There’s a part of that gift in you and there’s a part of the God-given ability in you. All of us have a role for which we are responsible and with that role comes accountability.

God Will Be Done In Your Life

Believe God for Your situation, He orchestrates our lives, directs His plan, a complex undertaking, arranges the performance, writes the score, engineers the circumstances, directs the participants; masterminded it all so only His will would be done.

From the book, Biblical Principles for Christian Maturity

"Therefore, my beloved people, be steadfast, immovable, always overflowing in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord".

Dying with Jesus, by death reckoned mine,

Living with Jesus, a new life divine.

Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,

Moment by moment, O Lord I am thine.

Never a trial that He is not there,

Never a burden that He does not bear,

Never a sorrow that He does not share,

Moment by moment, I'm under His care.

Never a heartache and never a groan,

Never a teardrop and never a moan;

Never a danger, but there on the throne,

Moment by moment He thinks of His own.

Moment by moment I'm kept in His love,

Moment by moment I've life from above;

Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,

Moment by moment, O Lord I am thine.

Being Transformed - Bishop T.D. Jakes

Only when we are weary from trying to unlock our own resources do we come to the Lord, receive Him, and allow Him to release in us the power to become whatever we need to be. Actually, isn't that what we want to know - our purpose?

Then we can use the power to become who we really are. Life has chiseled many of us into mere fragments of who we were meant to be. To all who receive Him, Christ gives the power to slip out of who they were forced into being, so they can transform into the individual they each were created to be.

Stand Up!

Grace is what brought you to the cross, amazing grace, and it is grace that will sustain you. You do not need to worry about feeling like you do not deserve anything from God. You don't and I don't. That's a snare; we have all fallen, but the Word says now we stand. Stand up against the wiles of the devil. God gets no glory in your misery, your defeat, your complaining, your hopeless feelings. He is all you need to be an overcomer. Bishop T.D. Jakes

No Complaints, Only Praise

Through years and tears and adapting to the trials and difficulties of life, you must come to the point where you make up you mind if He does not change the circumstances in your life you are still going to praise Him.

What you will find is when you get to that place, He will then move in your life because you have matured enought to realize that God is worthy regardless of all the things He does for you. It is at that point that God can move in your situation because you have grown up and stopped complaining. - Bishop T. D. Jakes

Bishop T.D. Jakes

You will be blessed as you look back at all the prayers you laid on the altar, seasoned with His Word and waited for God to answer completely. Encouragement will come from occasionally looking back and being reminded that as you prayed He was answering. God is a prayer-answering God!

Surround yourself with those who won't compete with you, but see your ascent as a reflection of their own possibilities. Don't forget that success is not just cash or degrees, it is living out your life's purpose. It is being all you can be. Bishop Jakes

Don't give up on yourself!

People who allow themselves to change are free. As a result their lives are fuller and richer. If you wake up most mornings miserable, make a decision to change your life. You may be moody or even insecure during this process. These feelings are often prevalent when you tread new territory. In time, you'll be confident with the new you! Don't give up on yourself!  Bishop T.D Jakes

Plato Quote

Any one who has common sense will remember that the bewilderments of the eyes are of two kinds, and arise from two causes, either from coming out of the light or from going into the light, which is true of the mind's eye, quite as much as of the bodily eye; and he who remembers this when he sees any one whose vision is perplexed and weak, will not be too ready to laugh; he will first ask whether that soul of man has come out of the brighter light, and is unable to see because unaccustomed to the dark, or having turned from darkness to the day is dazzled by excess of light. PLATO

T.D. Jakes Ministries/The Potter's House

Often we don't give ourselves permission to succeed. Nor do we appreciate people who look like us and are successful. Surround yourself with those who won't compete with you but will revel in your success and somehow see your ascent as a reflection of their own possibilities. Don't forget that success is not just cash in the bank or degrees on the wall; it is living out of your life's purpose.

The most dangerous thing that can happen is to become imprisoned by emotions. You cannot place yourself in solitary confinement. Even when you feel you don't have anyone who is sensitive to your heart's cry, you must cry out to God because Jesus is your only answer. Open your heart so God can get down into your wounded spirit and heal you. Bishop Jakes

Prayer

“Lord, teach me to live within Your boundary lines for me. Help me to use Your authority within those boundaries. I pray that You would break through any restrictions that the enemy has put upon my life. I thank You that he will not damage my inheritance. You will help me to reach my full potential in You. The enemy will not limit my vision and all that You have planned for me. Help me to stretch beyond my limitations to the boundary you have set for me. ‘I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me’ (Philippians 3:12). I choose to press through in prayer and become all that You have designed me for. I partner with You with my dreams and the desires of my heart. I refuse to let the devil squeeze me into a narrow place but I stretch forth my stakes, pushing to the limits (Isaiah 54:2). I repent of believing the lies of the devil (name any lies you have been believing). I shake off any negative feelings of hopelessness or insecurity (Isaiah 52:2). Help me to speak out Your Words of truth and worship You daily. Help me to obey You completely. I claim Your promise in Jeremiah 29:11 ‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.’ Thank you for the freedom I have in You. In Jesus name, Amen.”

The Real Fred Hammond's Thoughts

God always cuts, prunes, strips, removes, crushes and tears me before He elevates. Anything that can be shaken is shaken, I've seen it time and time again trust me it's always been that way. The cutting is surgery, the pruning is to bring new ripe fruit, the striping and removal is to Add new, the crushing is for the anointing, the tearing is for humility and preparation, but the BLESSING=PRICELESS

Life Lessons

No matter what happens,
How bad it seems today,
Life does go on
Tomorrow is a brand new day.

You can tell a lot about a person by
The way they handle four things:
A rainy day,
The elderly,
Lost luggage, and
Tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned,
Regardless of your relationship with your parents,
You'll miss them when they're gone from your life.

I've learned making a living
Is not the same thing as making a life.
I've learned life sometimes gives you a second chance

I've learned you shouldn't go through life
With a catcher's mitt on both hands.
You need to be able to throw something back

I've learned if you pursue happiness, it will elude you
But if you focus on your family, friends, the needs of others,
Doing the very best you can, happiness will find you

I've learned when I decide something with an open heart,
I usually make the right decision.

I've learned though I have pain, I don't have to be one.

Reach out and touch others lives.
A smile, a warm hug, a pat on the back,
Show them the love of Jesus in you.

I've learned I still have a lot to learn.

Hebrews 13:1-3

Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

THE REAL FRED HAMMOND

There's always an Opportunity to Love. God will see to it by allowing people to come into our lives to test us. So when they come remember this is not just a test, It's an opportunity.

My personal prayer to my Lord, my God

God I set my mind to gain understanding and revelation and to humble myself before You. Please reveal to me the clear and powerful discernment, comprehension, and empathy of Your will and Your ways. Reveal Your manifest Glory Lord, that makes You worthy of the homage and adoration of all creation, and Your incomparably great power that is available to me. I desperately need Your power to fulfill the vision You put in me. I have such a burning desire to know You, adore You, and worship You, completely. I desire to be so stirred up by the revelation of who You are, my heart so fixed in my confidence in You, I never fail to trust You, lean on You, hear You, and complete Your will for my life. I’m totally dependent on You. I am nothing, I have nothing, I can do nothing, without You. I need You to have my being, to move and breathe, to survive, so please remove from me everything that’s not of You, burn it up Lord, pull it out by the roots.

My Lord, My God

I am the Lord God, the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.
Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. The one who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father—to Him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

Tests & Trials

Tests have many purposes — the most obvious purpose is to prove your skill or mastery of a particular subject. Tests also show areas where you need to improve. While tests may be feared, they can also serve as confidence builders when you complete the test. Even if you fail the test, you realize that it was not the end of the world and you were able to get through it.
Life has many tests. The Bible speaks directly to the tests and trials that every person experiences. The reality of living in a fallen world with fallen people is that circumstances change, bad things happen, and tests are a certainty. The Christian is not immune to tests; anyone who has been a Christian for more than five minutes can vouch for this. In our text, James writes, “...when you fall into various trials...” (James 1:2, NKJV). Jesus echoes this same sentiment, “In this world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NKJV). So all of us will experience various trials and tests until our very last breath. The only person with no problems is a dead person, and only those who died trusting in the LORD Jesus Christ.

Knowing God

God, we know You will never take us
Where Your grace cannot keep us,
Where Your arms cannot support us,
Where You cannot supply our needs,
Or You cannot endow us with Your power.

God, we know You will never take us
Where Your Spirit cannot work through us,
Where Your wisdom cannot teach us,
Where Your army cannot protect us,
Or where Your hands cannot mold us.

God, we know You will never take us
Where Your love cannot enfold us,
Where Your mercy cannot sustain us,
Where Your peace cannot calm our fears,
Or where Your authority can be overruled.

God, we know You will never take us
Where Your comfort cannot dry our tears,
Where Your word cannot feed us,
Where Your miracles cannot be done,
Or where Your omnipresence cannot find us.

God kept me so I wouldn't let go!

I Am a ' Kept ' Woman........and loving it.
You see, there were a few times when
I thought I would lose my mind,
but GOD kept me sane. (Isa. 26:3)

There were times when I thought I could
go no longer, but the LORD kept me
moving. (Gen 28:15)

At times, I've wanted to lash out at those
whom I felt had done me wrong, but the
LORD kept my mouth shut. (Psa. 13)

Sometimes, I think the money just isn't
enough, but GOD has helped me to keep
the lights on, the water on, the car paid,
the house paid, etc. (Matt. 6:25-34)

When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up.
When I thought I was weak, HE kept me
strong! (I Pet. 5:7, Matt. 11:28-30)

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you know!
I'm blessed to be 'kept.'

Yvonne Tate

Yvonne and I have been more than best friends the last 45 years, we have been sisters. She became ill a few months ago and made her way to heaven yesterday. She was on a respirator, but that couldn't keep us from communicating. All we did was look into each other's eyes and squeeze each other's hands. She knew where she was going and told me she was very tired. Most of my family have gone on, and she was the only one left I could start a conversation with remember when... As we made our way through life, just hearing each other's voice made us smile, and helped us make it through many situations. There are no words to explain how hard this has been. It feels like something hit me very hard in the gut and I can barely breathe. My daughter made a beautiful video of her life for the funeral. None of us could speak it, we all loved her so very much. I can't imagine how anyone could make it through something so painful without God's help. Jesus carried me while God held my hand. It was the only way I could get through the days that ran together and the nights filled with tears. We must discern the things we can't change, or deal with on our own, give it to God, and worship and praise Jesus for loving and caring so much for us He gave His life to save us. It is then our responsibility to share these experiences with those who don't know Him, and pass on the comfort we received to help others going through life.

Let Jesus Carry You

I had an unexpected visitor this morning. He arrived early to sit down and chat for a while about how things were currently going for me in my life. He carefully and compassionately listened to all I had to say. He saw the stress on my face and the tears in my eyes.

He leaned over and gently held me for awhile. He reassured me and told me not to worry everything would work out for me and be just fine. He asked who I knew that could use a visit from Him. I immediately thought of you and gave Him your name and told Him where you lived. He gave me another reassuring hug as I walked with Him to my front door. He told me He was on His way to your place.
