Live Your Life

Pressing in

Have you ever noticed those runaway truck ramps on mountain highways? Our family was recently traveling through the mountains, and I noticed several emergency exit ramps. You know, the ones that are created for large trucks that need somewhere to go if their brakes fail.

Honestly, this week I needed some runaway ramps. I was going too fast, rushing myself and my kids with unrealistic expectations. And my brakes weren’t working as I traveled down a path of over-commitment. God also showed me that I needed to exit a relationship that’s heading down a slippery slope.

Maybe we all need some runaway ramps. Turning off our computer and going for a walk could be one. Or having coffee with a friend or a weekend with no commitments so we can rest. Even talking with a Christian counselor or pastor would be a good idea.

No matter what our ramps are, I have a feeling they could make a big difference!
